The mountainous region Calabria is an area of outstanding beauty just waiting to be discovered. Located in the toe of the country, it juts out in to the Mediterranean, with the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west, the Ionian Sea to the east and Sicily only 4km off the tip.

The turquoise sea and spectacular unspoilt coastline of sandy beaches and rugged cliffs, are ever present and have influenced the peninsular greatly, at times being the gateway for the Byzantines, Greeks, Normans and Romans, to mention just a few. All of these great civilisations have left their mark in the architecture, art, culture and gastronomy of the region. Inland, the mountains, with their wild and extensive woodlands and windswept plateaus, and fertile lowlands of olive groves, fruit orchards and vineyards, offer an unspoilt natural countryside to explore.

History, art and beauty abound in Calabria. Not to be missed are; The Norman castle and Byzantine church of Stilo, the medieval towns of Nicotera, Gerace, the historic cities of Cosenza, Catanzaro and Reggio Calabria rich in culture, art, architecture and history. The natural wonder of the Pollino National Park, the vast plateau of La Sila and the beautifully terraced slopes of Aspromonte. The beaches of Tropea, Capo Vaticano, Soverato and Squillace.

With direct flights 4 times a week from Stansted to Lamezia, Calabria is waiting to be discovered
